On a warm spring day in 1940, Grover Sims walked into the offices of Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company (FMH) in Des Moines, Iowa with a bold proposal. By the time the meeting was over, the middle aged entrepreneur had convinced FMH to let him offer their hail insurance to the farmers of Indiana. Grover returned home and after a few short years he enlisted the help of his son-in-law, Dick Silveus.
Dick Silveus worked to plant relationships and reap the rewards of a strong work ethic. From his first day in 1944, until his death in 1980, Dick was the leading salesman for Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance. The lifelong relationships he established with his customers were passed on to Steve and still exist today. Under his father's guidance, Steve Silveus built his own business, Silveus Insurance Group, Inc.
Today, Silveus Insurance Group sits at the top of the crop insurance profession. Steve and his sons, Tyler, Cameron and Scott, along with a strong group of insurance professionals continue to build the family reputation for innovative thinking, close relationships and unquestionable integrity.
Every member of the Silveus family is driven by the passion to continually build the family reputation for personal, professional service. This "service first" approach is one of the main reasons for Silveus Insurance Group's explosive growth.
Silveus Insurance Group continues to reach out to farmers nationwide with new products and unmatched customer service. We understand that no two farming operations are alike. Each one presents unique challenges and risks depending on a number of variables, including location, type of operation and ability to bear risk. No matter where our clients make a living, we will take the time to custom-tailor the protection plan that best fits into their situation and bottom line.
